Here at Doggie Stylez we want to ensure your pet is happy, healthy and safe. We want to ensure your
pet has the best quality of care and comfort during their stay with us, whether it's just for the day or
overnight. We realize that Doggie Stylez is a unique atmosphere that may not be suitable for all pets.
This is why the orientation for parents and temperament test for your dog is extremely important for all first time boarding or daycare clients.
Starting March 1, 2023 we will be implementing our new temperament tests. These longer temperament tests will give your dog more time to get comfortable here, and give us more time to get to know your dog and make sure that we are a good fit for one another.

Starting March 1, 2023 we will be implementing our new temperament tests. These longer temperament tests will give your dog more time to get comfortable here, and give us more time to get to know your dog and make sure that we are a good fit for one another.
Purpose of the Orientation/Temperament Test
- To ensure that we have all the necessary and relevant information for each guest and their unique personality, likes, and dislikes.
- To ensure that each guest is up to date on their vaccinations including Rabies, Bordetella, and Distemper (DHLPP).
- To ensure that each owner is fully aware of our policies and is comfortable leaving their pet in our care.
- To give the owners the opportunity to see our facility and “get a feel” for what your pet’s stay will look like.
- To ensure that each pet is comfortable in our environment.
- To determine which play group they will be comfortable and thrive socially in.
- To help ensure that we maintain a safe environment, free from dogs who could potentially harm others.
Eligibility for a Temperament Test
- Your dog must be finished with all puppy shots and be current on Rabies, Distemper (DHLPP), and Bordetella.
- Your dog must be spayed or neutered by the age of seven months. No exceptions.
- The parent(s) must go through orientation before a dog is allowed to continue with the temperament test.
What a Temperament Test Looks Like
- When you arrive for your 9:00am or your 9:30am time slot, a member of our staff will come to the front and do Orientation with you and your dog - this includes a 15 minute interview where we learn more about your dog and an brief overview for you of what your dog's day will look like while they are here.
- After Orientation, your dog will be taken out to one of our play yards (or play rooms weather depending) and be introduced to other dogs that they would be playing with during their stay.
- If they do well during that initial meeting, then we will keep your dog for a couple of hours so we can get a better feel for your dog and whether or not they will be a good fit for our facility.
- You will need to pick up your dog from their temperament test around 12:30pm.
How to Pass the Temperament Test
- Your dog must not show any signs of aggression towards the other dogs or the staff.
- Your dog must not seem excessively fearful, overwhelmed, or stressed out by the environment here.
- We are looking at your dog’s body language, how they approach the other dogs, do they allow other dogs to approach them, are they comfortable going in and out of a kennel, and how they respond to staff.
